Pre-requisites: 

This workshop is ideally suited for participants who have taken the Servicing Contracting workshop, but this course will also benefit participants with a solid understanding of the basics of service contracting.

Service Contracting often has a high level of complexity and covers a broad range of service arrangements.  This interactive workshop continues to explore the challenges of service contracting and examines a series of additional, effective and more advanced strategies not previously explored. Some of the topics that will be covered are: benchmarking for services, service level agreements, handling confidential information and non-disclosure agreements (NDA), how a contract manager can improve your organization’s service contracting and best practices in supplier relations and supply chain risk management. If you want to learn advance strategies to improve service contracting and to mitigate risk in your organization, whether in the public or private sector, this workshop will have something to offer you.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Be familiar with how a letter of intent can strengthen a service contract
  • Work with an NDA and integrate it in your service provider relationship and identify strong practices for keeping information confidential
  • Utilize service level agreements to improve the performance of service providers
  • Understand how to use benchmarking practices to evaluate and improve your organization’s bottom line
  • Position contract managers to improve service contracting
  • Know the recent developments of the leading case in supplier relations and how to apply those lessons

About the Instructor: Debby Shapero Propp, BA, LL.B.

Debby Shapero Propp is a commercial lawyer with a focus on procurement, technology and health law and has provided legal services in the private, public and broader public sectors for over 25 years. Debby provides advice on challenging procurement initiatives, major group procurements and on all aspects of increasingly complex procurement issues and related commercial processes. She acts for her clients in major technology acquisitions, negotiations for both traditional and emerging technologies such as IT contract management, software licensing, consulting and professional service agreements. She has developed a number of different types of service contract templates and has provided advice to clients on and negotiated a wide range of service contracts.
